Litter Free Coast & Sea

We all want a litter free coast and sea with clean bathing water and here at The Marlboro we are massive supporters of this campaign.

There are a multitude of reasons why clean beaches are important to Dorset and East Devon. Not only do they support a healthy environment on land and in the sea, they also create thriving places to live, work and visit, which is why we have some of the best beaches in the UK and a vibrant economy. Our public polling discovered that 87% of people thought that beach users had a responsibility to keep beaches clean and litter free. Through our projects, community beach care groups and campaigns we look to engage everyone who uses the Dorset and East Devon coast.

Communities, businesses and individuals across Dorset and East Devon, from Exmouth to Christchurch, including Bournemouth and Poole, are coming together to help achieve a Litter Free Coast and Sea.

Achieving a Litter Free Coast and Sea means no marine and beach litter on our beaches and high quality bathing water at our bathing beaches. It also means achieving;

• Clean, safe waters for swimming, fishing, sailing, watersports and wildlife

• Clean, safe beaches to have fun and relax on

The Dorset and East Devon coast already has some of the best beaches and bathing waters in the country. It also has unrivaled local food and produce from our fishermen and farmers and fantastic accommodation, shops and restaurants that bring in tourists from across the UK and abroad. A Litter Free Coast and Sea will help ensure that our local economy, environment and communities continue to thrive.

Currently there isn’t one organisation nationally or locally that is responsible for keeping our beaches and seas free of litter. However, we can all do something to help achieve a Litter Free Coast and Sea and that is why the campaign has been set up.
